How To Download Retro Games On Raspberry Pi

What you’ll need:

• A Micro SD card with a capacity of 16/64 gigabytes.
• A keyboard or wireless keyboard; if you like Raspberry Pi, you can also use a USB plug-in keyboard.

• A case is optional.
• A USB controller
• SD Card adapter

Plug in your SD card to your SD Card reader and  visit Retropie’s website and download Retropie. Launch your browser and type retropie.org.uk/download into the address bar before pressing the ‘Enter’ key. You’ll notice that there are pre-made images for the Raspberry Pi on the Retropie website. Download the ‘Raspberry Pi with 2/3’ format by scrolling down the page. The download will begin once you press the button. After downloading the file, you should extract it before copying the image to a Micro SD card.

 

Then, you’ll visit a different website called ‘Etcher.’ You will choose “Windows” on the website. Etcher will be downloaded to your device after you click. Following that, the retro pie image will be copied to the micro SD card. After downloading Etcher, simply follow the on-screen instructions to install it. Check that you have the proper SD card. After that, click ‘Flash,’ and the image will be burned directly to the SD card, which you will then insert into the Raspberry Pi.

 

After you’ve burned your retropie to the micro SD card, insert the micro SD card directly into the Raspberry Pi. Plug in the ‘Power,’ ‘HDMI,’ and keyboard from there. You can then launch retropie. The Raspberry Pi will then be booted up using the retropie. You must set up your inputs. Once you’ve configured your inputs, proceed to set up your WI-Fi by following all of the prompts. Once you are done, you can exit and transfer your ROM files to Retropie. Follow the prompts. Restart the emulation station, the games you copied to Retropie should be visible. How To Add Games To Raspberry Pi 4

Install Retropie for this process. SD cards with 32GB or higher are required for the Raspberry Pi 4. Remember that you’ll be putting ROMs on the SD card as well. You’ll also need a micro SD card adapter or a USB card reader.  You already have retropie and raspberry Pi imager installed on your PC. Launch the Raspberry Pi imager and select Retropie from the menu. You should be able to select the retropie version you want based on the raspberry pie you have. Retropie will be selected, because you are adding games to the Raspberry Pi 4. Then, select the SD card you just inserted and press ‘Write.’ Answer ‘Yes’ to the next prompt to continue. Then you’re done for now.

 

On your PC. The first step is to open a file explorer to write retropie for search. This should open up your retropie, and from there you will open the SNES OR NES ROMs folder and simply copy your ROMs to retropie. That’s it.

How To Install Recalbox On Raspberry Pi 4

• You need a raspberry Pi 4
• Micro SD card
• Power supply
• HDMI cable
• A controller(either wireless and USB)
• Fly digi Apex
• USB dongle
• A seperate PC

 

Plug in your micro SD card to your PC and search and launch recalbox. On the recalbox home page, look for the download option and click on it. You will be downloading version 7, and you must choose the platform for which you will be downloading recalbox. It is intended for the ‘Raspberry Pi 4’. and start downloading While this is downloading, you’ll need an application to flash this image to your SD card. ‘Etcher’ will be your tool.

Once Etcher is up and running, select ‘Flash from file’. You’ll go to your desktop because your recalbox image is on there. It might appear as ‘recalbox rpi4.img’ on your end. That image will be saved to the SD card. It is preferable to select the SD card yourself so that you can confirm that it is the correct SD card and that you are flashing to the correct drive. Etcher will decompress it before flashing it to the micro SD card, allowing it to run on the Raspberry Pi 4. Remove the SD card from your PC and plug it in your Raspberry Pi 4.

You will now proceed to the Raspberry Pi 4. Before booting up, insert the SD Card into the Raspberry Pi 4 and connect everything else as it should and correctly. The raspberry pi 4 will begin to boot once the power supply cable is plugged in. The new version of recalbox 7 will actually create a new partition on the SD card called ‘Shared.’

The shared partition and what it does is that it can be easily accessed from a ‘Windows PC’ or a MAC without having to connect over network and basically, to add your games, all you need to do is plug your sd card into your windows or mac pc and drag and drop your games into the correct folders making adding new games to your raspberry Pi 4 running recalbox easier than ever. Recalbox comes with some freeware games, and all you have to do is set up your controller and start playing.
