You could be a massive fan of the platform. Or, perhaps, you are a newbie curious about what games you can play on SNES. Or, you are an avid gamer who wants to play the best games on the SNES.
No matter your reason for coming to this page, we welcome you to see our list of the best games for Super Nintendo.
Without further ado, let’s dig into the fabulous list below.
Super Mario All-Stars
The All-Stars is the improved version of the older games. With the retouched graphics and sound, it intrigued the huge fans of the Mario franchise to do it all again. Well, why not? All SNES players have the chance to enjoy all of them in one package. It also included Super Mario Bros.2, the one which was not available in North America back then.
F-Zero
F-Zero is a unique racing game. The racing has fast-paced gameplay and challenging levels. According to many gaming experts, it is a futuristic type of game that is a treasure. It is a pity since there is no HD sequel to the game.
Chrono Trigger
The Chrono Trigger has such beautiful features. It comes with a deep combat system that you can use to modify the attacks of each character.
The game itself features seven different periods to explore. Akira Toriyama was the designer of the world. Well, it is not surprising why it looks so amazing. Play it on your Retro Game Console.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
In a way, it is the best game that I’ve ever played on the Super Nintendo console. A Link to the Past has every exciting element that I need to stay for hours in front of my monitor. There are a lot of exciting puzzles to overcome. The storyline, graphics, audio, and all of the elements are superb. It is easy to get lost playing this game.
Super Metroid
Super Metroid was a top-notch sci-fi game with great gameplay and mechanics. It has excellent graphics and character designs. It is about Samus’s journey through the planet Zebes to delineate the Metroid creatures. Play it on your Retro Game Console.
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Arcade shooter lovers must have this title. It is amongst the best games provided by NES and Konami. It has better graphics than its predecessors. Just like the title suggested, it is about the battle against aliens.
Secret of Mana
It is one of the most notable classics that you don’t want to miss. It has rich graphics, an astonishing soundtrack, and fantastic gameplay. It comes with three-player co-op gameplay. So, you could invite your roster to your home.
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario Kart is a multiplayer racing game that has two modes: racing and battle modes. If you are a massive fan of racing games, this is indeed one of the best pieces on your wishlist. Play it on your Retro Game Console.
ActRaiser
ActRaiser is a platformer game that invites players to build a city. It happened in the 16-bit era, precisely in 1991. ActRaiser deserved more mentions. It was a shame that it didn’t have such a huge fan base.
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy III is also called Final Fantasy IV because the second and third games were unavailable in the US.
In this game, the game developer introduced an Active Time Battle system to the players. It was also the beginning of a culture that happened decades later. It was also the first time actual cinematic storytelling was introduced in the FF series. It is a gem in the crown. Play it on your Retro Game Console.
We knew that there was no sign of stopping the series until now.
Super Mario RPG
Although it was odd for the platformer icon to move to the RPG environment, it turned out to be a successful game back then. It was a bizarre experience for most platformer players back then.
But in my opinion, it is a great RPG game. The story has excellent coherence. Not to mention that it has such humor elements. None of the humor elements were forced.
The 3D-rendered graphics might be a bold move. But the game developers nailed it. Play it on your Retro Game Console.
TNMT IV
The TNMT IV, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, is one of the best Konami games. It is the direct sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game. Although the gameplay is similar to its predecessors, there are a lot of bonuses to enjoy. It adds new enemies and bosses, as well as level variation. Players will have a long time playing in the game.
Harvest Moon
The Harvest Moon series was a global sensation. At that time, RPGs about life simulation in farming were not easy to sell. But it was highly successful despite being competed with by platformers and action games. Those who have been using SNES shouldn’t miss the chance to manage their crops and livestock virtually.
Street Fighter II Turbo
The Street Fighter II Turbo is one of the most recommended fighting games. It is where we’d tag along with our best friends to home to play the classic competitive game.
It is much different from the prequel as the developers added more skills and performances to each character involved in the game.
We can say that Street Fighter II is the beginning of everything. Since then, there have been dozens of successful titles in the franchise. My favorite game that I play on my Retro Console.
Super Castlevania IV
Castlevania comes in the Metroidvania genre, which is rare to see nowadays. It is not exaggerating to say that it was one of the unique games on the platform. It has such detailed graphics, a thrilling soundtrack, as well as appropriate controls.
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong is like an icon for Nintendo, especially amongst arcade lovers. The giant ape had been tightly competing with the Italian plumber. But since it is a great game, many people find it hard to forget.
