NAOMI was the first. Then the other machines, such as NAOMI 2, Hikaru, and Aurora, followed it. But in this post, we are going to discuss the best SEGA NAOMI games.

Capcom Vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001

Capcom Vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001

In Japan, this game is entitled Millionaire Fighting 2001. It is also the sequel to one of the most popular fighting games, Capcom vs. SNK.

The game was launched exclusively for Sega NAOMI hardware in the arcade.

But then, SEGA decided to release the title on Sega Dreamcast in the Japan region. The following consoles to adopt this game were PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. But that didn’t stop right there.

The GameCube and Xbox proceeded to accept Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO as well. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

Super Monkey Ball

Super Monkey Ball is one of the most amusing games on the game stations. It is unique and bizarre since there was not anything like it in that year. The game was launched in Japan at the 2001 Amusement Operators Union trade show. The initial title of the game was Monkey Ball.

Although it was running on NAOMI hardware, the controller was different. At that time, many were surprised and excited about the unique banana-shaped analog stick.

In Super Monkey Ball, its premise is about a transparent ball in which there is one monkey. You could play as AiAi, MeeMee, Baby, or GonGon.

This ball will be in a maze-like environment. The player must reach the destination on time or safely. Falling off will fail the player. When the timer reaches zero before reaching the goal, the player will also fail.

The Typing of the Dead

The Typing of the Dead - Reto Console

The Typing of the Dead is definitely on the list. It has been a staple game at many game conventions and stations in many countries. The first release of NAOMI hardware was in 1999 in Japan. But then, it didn’t take a long time until the international release was there. Since 2000, it has been a significant game in many countries for more than a decade. I still even remember that I played it at a department store in my city back in 2008. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

The Typing of the Dead is a modification of the other Sega title, The House of the Dead 2. While in the latter title, Sega uses the light gun controller, in Typing of the Dead, the players use a computer keyboard instead. Players will need to type letters, words, and phrases correctly to kill the enemies on screen.

Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Prologue

Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Prologue

This game is an updated version of Capcom vs. SNK Pro.

The original game was launched on SEGA NAOMI hardware in 2000. Then SEGA decided to release the game for the Dreamcast and Playstation as well.

Due to the hardware limitations, there were load times between rounds on the consoles. Not to mention that the players must suffer from the downgraded quality of the graphics and poor sound quality.

But it thrived in Sega Naomi. Many people were regulars at the game. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

The new roster includes Joe Higashi from Fatal Fury and Dan Hibiki from Street Fighter Alpha. This updated version also yields new moves for the existing characters and new play modes. It is something that arcade gamers wanted to have a taste of.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO

Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO - Retro Console

It is the same game as the other title, “Capcom vs SNK 2”. The only difference is the addition of “EO,” which is the abbreviation of the Easy Operation system.

This feature allows the player to conduct specific attacks by moving the right analog stick in a particular direction.

The new characters included are Evil Ryu, Shin Akuma, Orochi Lori, and Ultimate Rugal. You know these existing characters. But these are the more powerful versions of the four original characters.

When it comes to the gameplay, this is where the features get more advanced. Each player will need to choose the “grooves.”

It is a term that describes how particular players play the game. “AC-ism” is a complex control set that is designed for advanced players.

Meanwhile, the “GC-ism” grooves are the simplified versions of the controls. But these features are prevalent on the GameCube gamepad.

Meanwhile, the Xbox calls this feature EO-ism. Xbox players can also play this game online, challenging competitors across the world.

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution

The Virtua Fighter 4 indeed has a huge fan base. Although it was hard competing with the other fighting games, the infusion of the game into the NAOMI arcade system was a pretty solid decision.

The game sequel has two new characters and improvements to the existing characters. The new characters in the new game edition were Judoka-Assasin Goh Hinogami and Muay Thai boxer Brad Burns. This sequel also comes with an improved fighting environment. It has more excellent graphics and a more pleasant soundtrack as well. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

The House of the Dead 2

The House of the Dead 2 - Retro Console

The House of the Dead 2 is a fun and thrilling FPS shooter arcade game.

At that time, there was nothing fun like this game.

It is the sequel to The House of the Dead game series.

SEGA developers built this game specifically for SEGA NAOMI and released it in November 1998. Then they opened a new port for the Dreamcast in 1999 and MS Windows in 2001. Then the Xbox included this in its The House of the Dead 3.

The House of the Dead 2 has such excellent levels and challenges. Pair with your best pal to fight the dreadful monsters in the spooky House. One doesn’t have to be alone when playing this thrilling game.

The game also gets its place on Wii with The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return. My favorite game that I play on my Retro Console.

All SNES players have the chance to enjoy all of them in one package. It also included Super Mario Bros.2, the one which was not available in North America back then.

Chrono Trigger

The Chrono Trigger has such beautiful features. It comes with a deep combat system that you can use to modify the attacks of each character.

The game itself features seven different periods to explore. Akira Toriyama was the designer of the world. Well, it is not surprising why it looks so amazing. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Retro Game Console

In a way, it is the best game that I’ve ever played on the Super Nintendo console. A Link to the Past has every exciting element that I need to stay for hours in front of my monitor. There are a lot of exciting puzzles to overcome. The storyline, graphics, audio, and all of the elements are superb. It is easy to get lost playing this game.

ActRaiser

ActRaiser

ActRaiser is a platformer game that invites players to build a city. It happened in the 16-bit era, precisely in 1991. ActRaiser deserved more mentions. It was a shame that it didn’t have such a huge fan base.

Final Fantasy III

Final Fantasy III is also called Final Fantasy IV because the second and third games were unavailable in the US.

In this game, the game developer introduced an Active Time Battle system to the players. It was also the beginning of a culture that happened decades later. It was also the first time actual cinematic storytelling was introduced in the FF series. It is a gem in the crown. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

We knew that there was no sign of stopping the series until now.

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG - Retro Game Console

Although it was odd for the platformer icon to move to the RPG environment, it turned out to be a successful game back then. It was a bizarre experience for most platformer players back then.

But in my opinion, it is a great RPG game. The story has excellent coherence. Not to mention that it has such humor elements. None of the humor elements were forced.

The 3D-rendered graphics might be a bold move. But the game developers nailed it. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

TNMT IV

TNMT IV

The TNMT IV, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, is one of the best Konami games. It is the direct sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game. Although the gameplay is similar to its predecessors, there are a lot of bonuses to enjoy. It adds new enemies and bosses, as well as level variation. Players will have a long time playing in the game.

Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon - Retro Game Console

The Harvest Moon series was a global sensation. At that time, RPGs about life simulation in farming were not easy to sell. But it was highly successful despite being competed with by platformers and action games. Those who have been using SNES shouldn’t miss the chance to manage their crops and livestock virtually.

Street Fighter II Turbo

Street Fighter II Turbo - Retro Game Console

The Street Fighter II Turbo is one of the most recommended fighting games. It is where we’d tag along with our best friends to home to play the classic competitive game.

It is much different from the prequel as the developers added more skills and performances to each character involved in the game.

We can say that Street Fighter II is the beginning of everything. Since then, there have been dozens of successful titles in the franchise. My favorite game that I play on my Retro Console.

Super Castlevania IV

Super Castlevania IV

Donkey Kong Country

Donkey Kong Country

Donkey Kong is like an icon for Nintendo, especially amongst arcade lovers. The giant ape had been tightly competing with the Italian plumber. But since it is a great game, many people find it hard to forget.

Best Games for Game Boy/Gameboy Advance/Gameboy Color – Retro Gaming Console

The Best Game Boy Games of All Time

The Nintendo Game Boy made its debut back in 1989. It might not look exciting right now. But at that time, it was one of the most relevant gaming devices for many people. You can also play it on your Retro Gaming Console (watch it working).

The good thing about being a Game Boy owner was that everyone had a massive list of games. As confirmed, there are over 1000 titles of games hosted on Nintendo’s Game Boy. Many of them are good games. But some of them are the best.

For some of us, the Game Boy was a part of our childhood life. You might have come to this page to have nostalgic memories. Or, perhaps, you have seen the games somewhere and been curious about the classic games offered by this device.

Here are the best games for Game Boy, Gameboy Advance, or Gameboy Color.

Shantae

Shantae is arguably the underdog platformer game that struggled to compete with the Contra series. It is about a young girl who wants to retrieve a stolen prototype steam engine from pirates.

As the player, you will play the character to explore Sequin, a magical world where you can transform into various animals using Shantae’s dance magic.

Wario Land 3

Wario Land 3 - Retro Gaming Console

Wario is a puzzle-based platformer game. At a glance, it might look like a Mario game. But it is a different game in nature. It is more puzzle-based rather than action-packed. In this game, you will have five quests to finish to find the artifacts. Play it on your Retro Gaming Console.

Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins

Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins

Six Golden Coins was released ten years before the top seller, Super Mario World. This next-level Mario game offers the player excellent gameplay and new creatures, as well as vehicle segments. In this edition, Mario gets swallowed by a giant fish. The adventure is within the creature’s body.

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong - Retro Gaming Console

If you’ve been around following Nintendo, I am sure you have heard about this title. Donkey Kong is a unique arcade game that takes on the main character named Donkey Kong. The platforming puzzle game has over 100 levels to overcome. Be ready to be challenged. Play it on your Retro Gaming Console.

Kwirk

Kwirk

It is a puzzle-based game that has its uniqueness. When we expect that the main character of a great game is something straight, like a human, robot, or anything else, Kwirk does something else. The main character is a tomato.

And this tomato even has a girlfriend! When his girlfriend was kidnapped, he tried his best to rescue her in the underground labyrinth. Kwirk has more block puzzles to overcome compared to the other games.

Harvest Moon GB

Harvest Moon GB

You are tasked by your grandfather with taking care of the family farm. It is all yours. What do you think about it? For most people, it is an excellent opportunity to improve their lives. If you do think so, you can start working right now.

Harvest Moon is a game for all people. It was the best life simulation game at that time. Play it on your Retro Gaming Console.

Metal Gear Solid

I’d recommend this game to those who are still holding the Game Boy right now. Metal Gear Solid on different platforms has attracted a lot of players. The significant impact is almost similar to the Game Boy environment. It is a stealth-centric action-packed game with a great premise. The players will be astonished by the storyline and the fantastic gameplay. There was not anything like Metal Gear Solid back then.

Tetris

Tetris - Retro Gaming Console

Tetris is a long-lasting game. If we are talking about the series, there are many versions from year to year. Nowadays, this addictive puzzle game has its segmented fan base across the globe.

But the journey started over thirty years ago. The first Tetris release was in August 1989. The puzzle game has quickly become a favorite amongst Game Boy holders. Play it on your Retro Gaming Console.

The player will be challenged to move the falling blocks into the match place. Thanks to Tetris, it made such great sales numbers for the Game Boy system. According to the official source, the original Tetris has sold over 35 million copies. It was a huge success.

Pokemon Games

Pokemon Games - Retro Gaming Console

And I am not only talking about one Pokemon game but all of the series. Pokemon Red/Blue was released in 1998. But then, you will also want to take a look at the sequels, including Yellow, Gold/Silver, and Crystal. Those are all the successful games. If you’re a Pokemon lover, it is only natural that you want to catch them all.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

The Princess Zelda adventure is an excellent attraction to the game. The character wakes up on the shores of a mysterious island. The puzzle quests challenge the player to overcome. This game has taken a massive step for Sega to advance to the 3DS virtual console. Play it on your Retro Gaming Console.

Metroid II: Return of Samus

Metroid II: Return of Samus - Retro Gaming Console

The Metroid flare elements that come in this game have their unique attractions. In this game, you will be joining Samus on a special mission to eliminate Metroid creatures from their home planet, called SR388. You have a big task to enter the Samus Crusades. We can say that it is one of the most underdog games since many people hate it. But I am one of the huge fans of this game.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages & Seasons

Capcpom presented something special for Zelda game fans. The twin titles of the franchise offer a fantastic adventure. But that’s not all. They can interact with each other through Game Link Cables and a password system. This will tweak the journeys and progress of each player.

Mega Man V

Mega Man V

Mega Man V was a masterpiece from Capcom. The premise was so interesting that it could induce regular Game Boy players to purchase the particular games.

A group of powerful robots invaded the Earth. The Stardroids are too powerful to handle by the conventional defense system. Here is where the Mega Man fills in the gap. You will save the world by playing Mega Man. My favorite game that I play on my Retro Gaming Console.

Kirby’s Dream Land

Kirby's Dream Land

If you are craving some funny cloud puffs, then this game is for you. This is a fun and relaxing game with a lot of pink and other bright colors. The developers of the game focused on targeting young players. It has simple game mechanics and easy gameplay. If you want to play a “peaceful” game, it is a go-to for you. It is also suitable for kids of all ages.

Best Retro Games of All Time – Retro Game Console

There are thousands of games available on Steam and other platforms that we can enjoy. From the lower list to the AAA games, we can get everything. It is sensible that gaming experts state that we are now living in the golden age of gaming. You can also play it on your Retro Game Console (watch it working).

But for those living long enough to know classic games from years ago, there will be times when we yearn to play some titles that have been part of our childhood memories.

At those times, the games were still simpler. The level of competition won’t make your friends your foes. You and your friends purely played for fun. Whether it is the 8-bit or 16-bit titles, some addictions are not the same as what we feel in today’s AAA games.

Just like other people, you might want to trace back the experience by using the emulators and inviting your entourage again at home to play together. Some of the best retro games are indeed not enough. Here are some retro games that you’d like to reclaim again in this timeline.

Duke Nukem 3D

Duke Nukem 3D - Retro Game Console

The Duke Nukem 3D is one of the best old-school shooter games. It might not be kid-friendly. But I guess most of us here have been old enough to play this game again on the PC. This retro is fantastic. Nuff said.

Mega Man X

Mega Man X

There is a lot of Mega Man series that can be hard to remember. You might have wondered how many sequels to the game are out there. But the most notable title many years ago was Mega Man X.

It is available on SNES. It has a simple game concept, something that we’d expect from a Super Nintendo product. However, it has such a fantastic execution. As the player, you can mix and match the weapons to find the enemies’ weak points. Perhaps this feature was way ahead of its time back then. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

Demon Attack

Demon Attack

It was one of the most popular games on the Atari 2600. This retro arcade game looks like Space Invaders. The player will operate a weapon to destroy the alien invaders. These attackers will come in several waves. You might be able to handle the very first waves. But starting from the fifth wave, demons begin to split into two after being hit.

Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 - Retro Game Console

This series focuses on Leon, who takes on new threats in Spain’s remote areas. It is full of a lot of surprising elements. You won’t know for sure what’s going to hit you when you play this game.

Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2

The Silent Hill series is a top-notch competitor to the Resident Evil series. You will play as James, who believed that his wife had passed away. But someday, you receive a letter telling you that she is in the town of Silent Hill.

Fallout 3

Fallout 3

What do you think about the nuclear armageddon aftermath? You and your pals have been living underground. But then something happened so that you had to come up to the surface. What you remember about the earth is different when you come up to the surface. If you are fond of apocalyptic settings, it is indeed one of the retros you want to have a taste of.

Snow Bros

Snow Bros - Retro Game Console

The Snow Bros of the NES is a genuinely retro gem. The player must roll up monsters into giant snowballs and launch them into the crash. The snowballs can hit multiple enemies. You can also find extensive gameplay with two players. My favorite game that I play on my Retro Game Console.

Another World

Another World

I remembered back then I played this game on a Windows 98 PC, and I never finished it. But Another World is what shapes many arcade games today. The premise is about a guy named Lester who was dragged to another world where he needed to find a way to survive and get back home.

Super Star Wars

Super Star Wars - Retro Game Console

Super Star Wars was available for the SNES. Nowadays, you can play it through MAME or other compatible emulators. As the name suggests, it takes the original storyline.

Through this game, you can fight, use your lightsaber to slash enemies, as well as blow up the Imperial Death Star.

Star Trek: 25th Anniversary

Star Trek: 25th Anniversary

Start Trek: 25th Anniversary is available on PC. The player can shoot photon torpedoes at Klingons. In the game, there are various mysteries to solve to go to the next level.

There are seven episodes in the game. Back then, the folks slated these episodes as the missing pieces in the TV shows.

Super Mario Bros. 3

3 Super Mario Bros. 3 - Retro Game Console

The Super Mario All-Stars was a favorite for many classic game players. But when it comes to Super Mario Bros.3, it isn’t easy to compare them since both are fantastic games. Play it on your Retro Game Console.

The third installment of the series was an incredible game. It is not exaggerating to say that this game was way ahead of its time. It certainly has every perk, which was terrific in 1988 standards.

It has excellent level design and graphics. The gameplay is not a bore for every player. The author of this post never finished the first Super Mario Bros., And probably you are too. But here is great news. You can play it right now on any emulator.

The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

A Link to the Past is such an excellent title. But the gameplay is way more relaxed. It brings you to a challenging quest.

The world map comes with many secrets and surprises that make you never get enough of this game. It activated the imagination to indulge in the exploration made by all the players in the game.

Doom 2

Doom 2

Doom 2 was much better than its predecessor. It has more monsters, more difficulties, as well as more varied weapons to choose from. Try the super shotgun, and you will get addicted to it. The FPS where you can shoot demons is very fulfilling.

Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden - Retro Game Console

This game tells you about being a real ninja. You can run across the walls, throw shurikens, do some Jutsu, and so on.

Retro Games

The Best Games for Playstation 1

It has been two and half decades since the launch date of the original PlayStation, or PlayStation 1, order. You can also play it on your Retro Console (watch it working).

We have experienced the quick movement of the game’s evolution from year to year. The AAA game list this year is different from what we experienced 26 years ago. Some of you haven’t even been born.

But for those who played the PlayStation 1 in their time, it is hard to deny how impactful the classic games were on their lives. One of the things that we can feel today is the impact of the pop culture featured in those particular games.

From the super stealth games like Metal Gear Solid to the runners like Bandicoots, or the adventurous Tomb Raider, those are only the tips of the iceberg of the game franchises on PS1. Yet, we may not have covered all of them. Here are the best PS1 games and some that you probably missed.

Policenauts

     Policenauts

The interactive comic-centric game comes with point-and-click mechanics with shooting games as the side dishes.

In this game, the player will play a protagonist called Jonathan Ingram, who has just lost his wife and wants to investigate the case.

Policenauts takes place mostly in space. The colony of Beyond Coast is the place that you’ll explore there. The game has never been released outside Japan. However, a fan-made English translation version can be found online.

Future Cop LAPD

Future Cop LAPD

The Future Cop LAPD says what it is about. The excellent sci-fi action title allows you to control a cop meca which can transform into a car in challenging missions. But you don’t have to be alone to answer the call of duty. You can play with your friends in split-screen co-op challenges. Play it on your Retro Console.

Tomb Raider 2

Tomb Raider 2 - Retro Console

It is obvious, isn’t it? This sequel is one of the most successful adventure games of that era. The game comes with challenging puzzles with rewarding reveals at the end of each solved challenge. Lara Croft delivered a much more polished version of the game back then.

Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid was a hit in the marketplace. Hideo Kojima nailed it.

Many people who have ever played this game have been attached to the stealth hero Solid Snake so that they always welcome new sequels after sequels in the future.

The action-adventure game design comes with a unique approach to stealth, evading, and puzzle elements. The game director added more spices with the great cutscenes, voice-acted conversations, and the coherence of the main character’s crusade.

Bishi Bashi Special

Bishi Bashi Special

There’s always an excellent time for party games. And Bishi Bashi Special is one of the most recommended games to share with your fellow players. This game utilizes a multi-tap to enable eight players. The bite-size minigames invited all of the hangout friends to participate. All the games are crazy and competitive. Some are even making the buttons break. It was one of the rarities that we yearn to enjoy nowadays.

Street Fighter Alpha 3

Street Fighter Alpha 3 - Retro Console

It is a true masterpiece. There were only a few PS players who disliked this anime-styled 2D fighting game. Even the writer of this article has found it hard to hate this game. There are too many beautiful components, from the graphics, sounds, game mechanics, characters’ uniqueness, gameplay, and so on. This came with only a few flaws, and those were well-covered by the great endeavours of this game. It was a feature-rich game that everyone would regret missing at that time.

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 - Retro Console

The Resident Evil series is one of the most successful horror survival games in the world. The mark started with Resident Evil 2, which challenged the players to survive the Raccoon City crisis. Backed by such a great story, the players had more stakes to overcome. It has more positive points from the character development, challenges, monsters, and controls of the game. Still using fixed camera angles, it offers a lot of exciting aspects to enjoy. The challenging adventure in RE2 had a significant impact on a wide array of players. My favorite game that I play on my Retro Console.

Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell is definitely on the list since it was one of the most popular third-person shooters at that time. Since it is derived from anime, it also made the game one of the most prominent anime tie-in games.

Eve 2

Eve 2

The survival horror games have been competing with other excellent series like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. This survival horror game takes it to the next level by offering a fantastic progression of RPG elements. Aya Brea reprised the role as protagonist in the sequel. The player would play her to investigate the outbreaks of the Mitochondrial creatures.

Chrono Cross

Chrono Cross - Retro Console

When we talk about Square, the Final Fantasy games are the first thing on our mind. Many people overlook the Chrono Cross title. It is an influential classic, and there is a great reason why it is one of the best PS1 games ever.

It has an inspiring RPG battle system. The player needs to use their wisdom to assemble the right party for them. It also had one of the most excellent graphics at that time.

Bushido Blade

Bushido Blade

Back then, when many people ranted about the failures of 3D fighting games that could not beat 2D counterparts like Street Fighter, the Bushido Blade could reign without BS. It was not as successful as the other fighters, but it did have pretty segmented fans. The game lacks life bars. One can defeat their enemies with one single blow. Play it on your Retro Console.

Mega Man Legends

Mega Man Legends - Retro Console

Mega Man Legends is undeniably one of the best action games of its particular era. Capcom had nailed it by mixing the classic anime with modern action phases that wouldn’t bore the avid players.
